Adult Education

Live and Learn!

Rabbi Cohen leads an adult education "class" (almost) every Thursday from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm.  The first session will be on Thursday, October 11th at 11:00 am.  Drop in and join the group discussion.  We welcome your input for an interesting, informative and invigorating exchange of ideas.

We have created a new FJCC book club! Join us!

Do you love reading?  Do you want to drink coffee or tea, eat snacks and discuss the books you love?  Do you want to inspire others to love books?  We routinely meet on the third Monday every other month at 7:00 pm.  However, you should check the calendar for the exact date/time of the next book club meeting date and the reading selection.  This year, the first meeting is on Monday, October 15th at 6:00 pm -- earlier than usual.  We are fortunate to have the Mary Morris, author of "Gateway to the Moon" at the event.

Learn to play Bridge

Coming to the FJCC -- learn and play sessions of Bridge!  Every Thursday, starting on Thursday, October 11th at 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm will be a lesson and game.  Are you game?  Cost is $2 per person per night.

Learn the Basics of Judaism

Rabbi Cohen presents an adult education course for anyone interested in learning the "basics of Judaism." The class meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm. The first session will be on Thursday, October 25th.

Becoming Jewish

Three times a month -- on the first, second and third Sundays of each month at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm, the Rabbi leads a discussion on "Becoming Jewish." All are welcome! The first session will convene on Sunday, October 14th.

Learn to read the Hebrew prayer book

We will hold a beginner Hebrew reading class for adults.  The class will focus on reading the siddur.  It will be held Mondays at 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm starting on Monday, October 15th.  Pick up a new skill or enhance your existing abilities.  Learning is part of living!  Contact the office to express your interest.

Learn to Participate in Shabbat Services

Learning Shabbat services does not end at the Bat/Bar Mitzvah party.  Learn to lead Shabbat Services and more at your own pace.  We have available recordings of the Ma'ariv service by our own Julia Sirota.  They can be found at:
You may find other recordings of Shabbat Services. We suggest Rabbi Zimmerman's online recording:
