Flemington, Hunterdon County and surrounding communities.

Founded in 1924, our multi-generational congregation teaches and passes on our traditions to
our children though our

Services.  We are a fully accessible facility, and encourage participation by all members of
the community.

Order and harmony are the basis of beauty.  On Tuesday September 13, a
small and efficient Library Committee started to reorganize our FJCC

them accessible to congregation and the community at large. It is a mitzvah
and it is fun.  WIth your help, our library and our beautiful building will be
an organized and vibrant community center.

On the last Thursdays evening (7:30 pm-9:00 pm), I had the pleasure and
honor to study Maimonides' Yesode ha-Torah with our congregants .  We
covered many topics, including how to understand our limits of knowing
the Unity of God.

In this regard, Rabbi David Aaron (Seeing God) writes:

If you want to encounter God's essence, then you have to be willing to
expose your own essence to God.  God can only reflect what you're
presenting. If you present yourself with genuineness, with authenticity -
your beauty in truth - then you reveal your essence and the essence of
God will be revealed to you. You have to be real to see the Real.

The month of Ellul: Month of mercy and forgiveness.

When the world was created? According to Rabbi Eliezer, the world was
created on the twenty-fifth of Ellul (Talmud, Rosh-Hashanah 10b).

When Adam was created? According to the same source, Adam was created
on the Sixth Day of Creation, coinciding with Rosh Hashanah (The first of

Ellul: Blowing the Shofar and its meaning

From the first of Ellul (the second day of Rosh Hodesh) until Erev (the eve
of) Rosh Hashanah, (but not on Erev Rosh Hashanah itself,) the Shofar is
blown every day (except on Shabbat) at the end of the morning service,
before Psalm 27. This year we will start on Sunday September 4th.

Four sounds are blown: Tekiah, Shevarim, Teruah, Tekiah.

Blowing the shofar during the month of Ellul arouses people's minds and
warns them of the approaching of the Yamim Noraim, 'Days of Awe'.  The
reference of this concept is Amos 3:6, If a shofar is blown in a town, do the
people not tremble?
